Overview of Family & Addiction

This training is designed for entry-level counselors in the addiction workforce wishing to develop family skills. The topics to be addressed include: family structure, function, and systems; the effect of addiction on family members; assessment of family problems and critical issues and strategies in treatment. Developing family treatment plans for children of alcoholics, children of substance abusers and addicted children will also be addressed.

Name: Frank Pouliot
Credentials: MS, CASAC
Bio: Mr. Pouliot is the Professional Development Coordinator at Conifer Park in Glenville, New York. He has a Masters in Human Services Administration and is a credentialed alcoholism and substance abuse counselor (CASAC). He has 22 years of experience directing clinical programs in the field of mental health and addiction services and over eight years of experience as a professional development trainer and facilitator of on-line and classroom curriculums. He is an adjunct professor at Schenectady County Community College, the College of St Rose, Empire State College and the University of Phoenix.  He is also a faculty member of the NYS OASAS Academy of Addiction Studies.
