Addiction and Co-Occurring Disorders

The pervasive and complex nature of clients having both psychiatric disorders and chemical abuse problems is of increasing importance in the profession of chemical addiction treatment.  This course examines the treatment of this group from a historical perspective, defines the focus of screening and assessment and its subsequent translation into appropriate diagnostic categories (DSM).  In addition, it offers insight into treatment philosophies and methodologies intended to improve clinical outcomes.
