Intervention for Families Affected by Chemical Dependency
The goal of this course is to provide an in-depth examination of the specific characteristics, dynamics and best practice interventions in working with families affected by chemical dependency. This course will provide brief details relative to addiction with emphasis on dispelling the myths about the irrational behaviors of the individual family member that is chemically addicted. This will include the dysfunctional coping method used by families to deal with the addict in the family system. It will also focus on the challenges encountered by the professional interventionist working with the family, and examine ways in which to overcome these challenges, relative to providing information regarding treatment and recovery issues and processes for the affected individual and the family system as a whole.
