HIV/AIDS: Training for Substance Abuse Professionals

This training will cover working with the HIV positive client and prevention of HIV in HIV-negative clients. The program will cover issues of HIV transmission and counseling. Students will learn how to assist the HIV-positive client with adherence to medication and maintaining optimal health while also maintaining the HIV-negative status of clients not already infected.  This course will also cover key HIV/AIDS legal issues in substance abuse facilities including confidentiality.

Prior knowledge includes program Leadership in HIV, Substance use disorders environment of care management, grants development/management, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization preparation.
