The Disease Process of Addiction

In this course, participants will be able to identify consequences of addiction on the individual, family and society. Students will gain an understanding of the addictive process and will be able to identify characteristics of addiction. Finally, participants will be able to identify the changes characteristics of each of the four stages of addiction.

Name: Dean Hale

Bio:

Dean is a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor, Recovery Coach, and is currently the Director of Residential Services for Twin County Recovery Services. He has worked in several different modalities of treatment including a hospital-based detox and rehab unit, halfway houses, and an intensive residential program. Dean worked as an Intervention Coordinator and has facilitated Interventions as well. He has worked with both mandated and non-mandated populations and is a member of the Columbia County Drug Court Team. In his free time he produces a Public Access Television Series called INSIDE ADDICTION, speaks within the community to Middle and High School students about his recovery from addiction, and stays active by volunteering and doing service work in sober support fellowships.
