Volunteer Opportunities
ACCA depends on volunteers to accomplish our vision: To heal the hearts of everyone touched by addiction. We have a variety of opportunities for talented individuals who are committed to enriching the lives of individuals and families in the Capital District community.
The opportunities available to volunteers are defined by the needs of our programs, clients served, and staff availability at ACCA. Here are some of the many opportunities that we offer:
Office Support
Assist with various duties within the office, such as phone reception, mailings, copying, filing, data entry, packet making, marketing, communications, research and assistance with special projects.
Facilities
Assist with general facility maintenance: indoor/outdoor painting, mural painting, repairs, gardening, and the upkeep of the grounds. Assist in setting up and breaking down equipment, furniture and supplies for special events.
Program Support
- Educational workshops at our treatment facilities: GED tutoring, literacy enrichment, resume preparation and career counseling, computer skills training
- Recreational activities at our facilities or off-site:
- Sports and fitness: yoga, Tai Chi, ropes course, basketball, baseball, ice hockey
- Arts: visual arts, photography, music therapy, choir workshops, spoken word, creative writing, poetry
- Cultural enrichment field trips: ballet, opera, theater, musicals, sports events, libraries, public park events
- Holiday celebrations: Thanksgiving, Christmas:
- Decorate ACCA facilities
- Collect NEW household goods, electronics, clothing
ACCA Ambassador
Promote community awareness and education by representing ACCA at exhibit tables at health fairs, conferences and special events. Distribute information and answer basic questions about agency services. Assist in recruiting new friends of the agency by spreading awareness of the ACCA mission and vision. Help us in securing support from the community, assist as a campaigner for the ACCA Annual Fund.
Special Events
Assist as a committee member to plan agency-wide and/or program-specific special events, and secure sponsors and donations from the community. Click here to read more about ACCA's special events.
